Dear Neighborhood Leaders,
Thanks to everyone of you who attended the Northeast Neighborhood Alliance Candidates Forum on Monday. This event was one of the largest get-togethers we’ve had in years.
An important highlight of this meeting was the fact that our members had the opportunity to talk directly to numerous candidates on the November 8th election ballot and to ask them questions.
Former City Councilman John Clamp did an excellent job of moderating the forum with the candidates for State Representative District 121, Bexar County DA, Bexar County Judge, and Bexar County Precinct 3 Commissioner. During the forum we not only heard about the candidates’ qualifications and goals, we also heard a very good discussion on topics such as property taxes, immigration issues, school security, government responses to the COVID-19 outbreak, criminal releases, education support, and much, much more. Following the forum, we had NNA Board Member Marc Whyte introduce all the other November 8th ballot candidates who were in attendance. Discussions with our members and these candidates continued after our meeting was adjourned. Feedback from everyone involved was very positive and certainly reminded us how important these meetings can be for voters.

We need to recognize the news media who reported on the forum and Colletta Galloway who served as our “timer” by reminding candidates when their allotted talking time had expired. Also thanks to Paula Cortez and other members of the District 10 Staff and to all our volunteers who helped host this event, including our acting Recording Secretary Jan Kirby.
Please remember to share what you learned at this forum with your neighbors and remind them that early voting begins next Monday, October 24th through November 4th, and that election day is November 8th.
